Resume keywords for a Accountant
Accounting postings screen for the reporting standard, the ERP, and the specific close or compliance processes you have run. This is a field where the exact vocabulary matters more than almost any other, because the processes are standardised and the terms are unambiguous.

Check your resume against a real posting
A checklist tells you what the market asks for. Paste an actual job description and your resume to see which of these terms you are already covering and which you are not โ free, and the resume never leaves your browser.
Run the checkHow to evidence these on the page
- State the close timeline you achieved and the entity count: "closed books for four subsidiaries in a six-day cycle". Both numbers are read closely.
- Give the scale of what you handled โ transaction volume, ledger size, payables run value. It sets your level immediately.
- Name the standard you reported under. IFRS, Ind AS and GAAP are not interchangeable to a screener.
- If you reduced the close cycle, cut audit queries, or cleaned a reconciliation backlog, quantify it โ these are the field's flagship achievements.
What gets these resumes rejected
- Describing duties in the passive voice with no ownership, which is endemic in accounting resumes and instantly forgettable.
- Omitting the ERP. It is often the first hard filter applied.
A caution about keyword stuffing
Every term above is worth including only if it is true of you. Padding a resume with unearned keywords gets you into interviews you then fail, which is worse than not being shortlisted. Use this as a prompt to surface experience you already have and forgot to write down โ not as a list to copy.
